Preventing Cardiovascular Events in High-Risk Diabetes Patients

Diabetes increases the risk of cardiovascular and thrombotic adverse events in high-risk diabetes patients. Current antiplatelet therapy to prevent adverse events in these high- risk patients may not be adequate, and several recently-completed and ongoing clinical trials are evaluating the efficacy and safety of additional approaches, including the use of more aggressive and specific antithrombotic agents in this setting.
